Madison Mini-Marathon & 5K is proud to be a part of the Madison Community and as being a part of the community it is important to give back. The Madison Mini is of course helping people become active and exercise but it has is committed to support the UW Health Department. The Mini will be donating a portion of the proceeds from the event to specifically Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Wisconsin is committed to providing the women of Wisconsin and the surrounding region, along with their families, comprehensive and outstanding health care throughout the spectrum of their lives. This includes the care of adolescent women, as well as a more mature population.  Services including the care of pregnant women, those who desire to become pregnant, helping women through menopause, as well as specific areas, such as cancer care. The foundation of our commitment is to provide the best patient care, complimented by education and research.

The funds raised through this event will be deposited into a fund called "Healthy Women, Healthy Babies."  This fund was created to promote awareness about healthy lifestyles of women of all ages and how their decisions to make healthy choices impact not only their own lives, but the lives of their current and future family members.  The purpose of the fund is to provide discretionary support to the Chair and aid the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in its clinical, academic and public service roles with support from grateful patients, alumni, friends and the community.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has provided financial support for Continuing Medical Education for clinical staff and has made generous contributions to the following organizations in support of their mission to promote the health of future and current expecting mothers as well as their future generations:

American Family Children's Hospital

South Madison Health and Family Center, Inc

March of Dimes

Perinatal Foundation and Wisconsin Association for Perinatal Care

In addition to financial support, the Department has participated in an annual Blanket Drive providing much needed blankets and linens to the families served by the South Madison Health and Family Center.

Team in Training
Team In Training (TNT) has teamed up with the Madison Mini-Marathon & 5K.  TNT is the signature event of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and is the largest endurance training program in the world!  Since 1988, more than 420,000 TNT participants have raised over $1 billion for life saving cancer research and services to help blood cancer patients live longer, better lives! We train runners, walkers, cyclists and triathletes of all fitness levels to complete half and full marathons, century rides, and triathlons.  In exchange for personalized training and support, participants fundraise to help support LLS's mission: To cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
